Honda patented an 11-speed transmission with three clutches. AutoGuide writes with the reference to the Japanese patent office.
The application has been published on the 27-th of May of this year and was registered by the Honda company.
The inventor was Izumi Masao. As AutoGuide writes, the new transmission will reduce the response time of the switch, further reducing the time of the gear changes, to improve efficiency as well as 2005 Honda Odyssey headlight bulb.
At the moment Honda has a nine-speed automatic transmission, developed by the German ZF company, and nine-speed “robot” with two clutches, which is installed on the hybrid supercar NSX. In addition concerns Ford and General Motors have got 10-speed automatic transmission.
